Golden stars in the night sky
shining so bright i cant imagine why
as i am staring up i see an endless amount
so many stars so many to count
What is that a shooting star
its going so fast, its shooting so far
i make a wish as i close my eyes
i hope it come true, after so many tries
among the stars i feel so huge
i am floating in space, sliding like a luge
its getting darker i shut my eyes
but i awaken in my room hearing my little sisters crys

SPEAK
Have you ever felt that feeling that the only thing that people are talking about is you? One brave character in this extraordinary book “Speak”, by Laurie Halse Anderson, Really captures what the true meaning of a problem at school really is.
In the first quarter Melinda says “gym should be illegal”. And why she had said this is because when there are so many people hanging out with friends and you are not you get that feeling that you have no friends, that nobody likes you, I think that is what Melinda felt. I have felt that feeling at my school before because Last year I had one good friend in gym and when he was gone I did not really have anybody to walk with and when I saw people looking at me I thought that they were talking about me like making fun of me. I think I felt the same feeling that Melinda felt when I was in that situation.
Something in this book that really stood out to me was the couch. The couch is similar to Melinda, because one side is where she eats her pepperoni pizza, and when she flips the cushions over the other side symbolizes “Nobody ever eats in the dining room!” Melinda is like this too because at school she is very lonely and is quick to judge people, but at home it is almost like she forgets about school and she forgets about her stress. I along with about everyone I know acts this way too because we all act a little different when we are with are friends then when we are at home with our parents. Which is why we are all two sided; just like the couch.
When I think about this book the first thing that comes to my mind is; “Did the author write this book from experience? Because the author wrote a story about problems and experiences your main character has, you would think that Laurie Halse Anderson wrote this book from experience. After reading this phenomenal book when the word Loneliness is said; I think of Melinda.

Loneliness
Loneliness is found in many different people all around the world; loneliness could mean that you have no one to talk to you or just no one to care for you. This phenomenal short story “A Clean, Well-Lighted Place” by, Ernest Hemingway teaches the reader about the true meaning of loneliness.
When you share a connection with somebody you might understand that person’s situation more. The young waiter seems like he has his life in order, he has a wife and people to care for him. I think that is why he reacted to The Old Man’s situation differently than the young waiter did and wanted to close the bar up because he has never felt that loneliness or that feeling that you have nowhere to go. The Old Waiter was sticking up for the old man because he had been lonely before, he knew that The Old Man was going through a rough time. In my life I have felt that terrible feeling that nobody cares for you; in sixth grade I was not getting the best grades in school so all it seemed like to me was my family would just yell at me. I felt as if I had no one to turn to to make me feel better; which is how I can relate to the old man because the old man had to go home to nobody and did not have anyone to help him in his rough times.
Caring for somebody and understanding them when they are alone makes a big difference too. The young old waiter was sticking up for the old man when the young waiter was saying mean things about him because he can relate to that lonely feeling. When I was outside playing football the other day I saw a kid getting made fun of, I helped the kid out when everybody was just watching, I did that because I have been bullied before and I know how it feels so I understood that the kid did not like it. The one that was bullying him probably had never felt that feeling of shame because he had never been bullied. I n that situation I was a lot similar to the older waiter in the way that I stuck up for the one who was in the bad situation because I knew what that felt like.
If you are looking for a book with moral lessons you’ve found one; because in this short story Loneliness is really stretched out to its limits. This short story can also relate to everyday life in many ways, so I think that Earnest Hemingway did a good job on describing the perspective of the a lonely man.

Patriotism
Patriotism can be doing something for our country or devoting something to our country, it could also mean that you are just an American citizen. when i think of patriotism the first thing that comes to my mind is an American flag, and the patriots logo. I think that patriotism still maters because patriotism is like pride, which is good because pride means your supporting something, and that something is America. i also think about all of the people who lost their lives in war for what we take for granite, like freedom of speech, the right to say what we think. in other country's i think about the dictators and the war, i think about all the people that would be much better of living here. and our patriotism is what keeps our country going and keeping hope.

थे बॉडी इन हेन्र्य्स हाउस
The body in Henry's House is a romance because of the path that it follows with the main characters pretending that everything is great and that they have a normal life when it really is not all that normal. They also have a mild conflict about where they are going to put the body. At the end the grand children are curious as to what happened to the body so they had a conflict about how the body got locked up in this suitcase. I can relate this to my everyday life because when i find money on the laundry room floor in my house i sometimes take it. when my parents find the money they are curious as to where i got it from. i also think that this story is a utopia because they act like it is a perfect world when it really is not. nobody would just ignore a dead body in the house and act like nothing is going on. so that is why i think that is a utopia.

Summer
Summer is the time to have fun with your friends but after about the first two months of summer i just keep thinking about going back to school and i feel like a have to rush what im going to do. I usuallyhave alot of soccer in august which is why i really dont have that much time to play with my friends.I had three tournements in august that took up three of my weekends on vacation. I dont know how much soccer we have to have in one month. they could have moved some of the soccer tournements to october or november so it wouldnt have taken up so much of our time on vacation. that why june and july are the only months that I can truly relax and not think about anything that is going on in a day. I can sleep in untill noon everday on those two months of the year too because i dont have to wake up at seven o'clock in the morning everyday to go to soccer. My soccer goes untill june of next year and then i have try-outa for the high school team.

When you have been trying to find something that would make you happy for all of your life and you finally found it, how far would you go to keep it? An unloved girl will show just how far she will go to keep that special something. Pictures of Hollis Woods captures the image of what it’s like when you have nowhere to go but the streets. All that Hollis really wanted was to think that after whatever she is doing, she can go home to a family that loves her.

public speaking
Public speaking was not as hard as I expected. it is really hard not knowing what you are going to talk about because you would try to use filler words to take up time. I thought that i was doing very good besides my arms, i feel wierd having my hands staying still at my side which is why i put my hands in my pockets. Overall i think i did a great job getting my speech across to the audience because they try to point out every mistake that you have. i also have to be louder which is hard to just change the tone of your voice right in the middle of your speech. you also have to do good memorizing becuase it is hard making eye contact while you are trying to read.

The Glorious Whitewasher
In the 1800’s the united states youth were independent kids, working on chores all day. They were also surrounded by racism, and how people who acted different were treated different. This Phenomenal short story The Glorious Whitewasher, teaches the reader about the effects of racism, and how even the smartest of children can be deceitful.
While Tom Sawyer was whitewashing the fence, a young man came strolling gallantly down the old brick road, his name was Ben. Ben was bored and even thought Tom was too, Ben thought that Tom must have been having way more fun. When Tom realized this, being the intelligent young man he is, mad his job seem much harder than it really was by telling him he was not good enough to paint the fence. It seems like all the other kids in the neighborhood thought that Tom was having fun too because they all came to paint the fence. When I am really bored the things that are not fun look so much cooler than what I’m doing.
When someone sees a new kid in school they might want to walk over and say hi, but stop to think, will people make fun of me if I’m seen hanging out with the new kid. That is how tom must have felt when he saw that nice black man walking down the road. Because in his time they were very racist to people of different religions or colored skin tones. This short story can relate to Papa’s Parrot when Harry the papa’s son, starts to avoid his dad when he was talking to the Parrot he got. I have also started to avoid my parents in public because I am embarrassed to be seen with them. This short story refreshes the old saying, you don’t know someone until their true colors show.
Racism has gone along way and as children get smarter they become more intolerant, as shown is this short story The Glorious Whitewasher. This is a great story that makes you think about how you would like to raise your children. When Tom made the kids give him things to paint the fence, I don’t think that his aunt would have approved of that. That is just one great example of what kids do when their parents are not around.

A Day No Pigs Would Die
This is a heartwarming story that tells alot of imformation about the life and everyday tasks of a farm boy. In every chapter i was amazed what this young boy had to do for the farm and for his family, in almost every single chapter he had to do something where someone got hurt, or he was in deep shock and regret. Like when rob had to weasle the dog, he must have thought that the dog could have killed the weasle without and major injuries. When rob saw the outcome he, and I, were in aww. Rob regretedit so much and i would have to i would have felt like that was my fault even though someone told me to do it. He was also a little startled when pinky was bleeding when Samson, Mr. Tanner's boar, was unable to breed off of pinky because they found out trhat she was barren. When Rob looked in his Haven's eyes he knew what had to be done, and hated dad for doing his job, but after when Haven came up to Rob and rubbed his hands onn his cheek, he loved his dad for everything and all his knowledge. That for me was the most love in the satory that Haven, ever gave to his son Rob.

The Clearing
Competing against someone you dont like is alot differant than working with someone you respect. When you mess up, it's usually because you are in a hurry. This short story The Clearing is a great story that teaches the reader about hard work and a good competition.
A Secret for Two
Devoted people go to work everyday. Still others go above the everyday work expectations.
One example is the men at Christmas competing for the best house decorations. Just like the men at Christmas, One man in this great short story, "A Secret for Two", teaches you what being devoted really means.
The Circut
While your driving down the road you see many poor immagrants working for thier scraps of food that they feast on in the evening. You think about what it would be like and how you would do simple things like go to school, or just have time to be a kid. This short story, "The Circut", answers many of those questions you may have.

Black Stallion and the Red Mare
Exciting moments in the story can bring up many different things between even the worst enemies, especially when they have to work together, and this is usually the main point of interest in the story. Wether it is by foot, horse, or automobile it always drags you into the
story. Black Stallion and the Red Mare, by Gladys Francis Lewis can relate to another amazing short story "A Secret For Two". In both short story's one of the main characters has a medical condition found out by one of the minor characters which is not found out untill the end of the story. The Black Stallion and the Red Mare teaches the reader about a true friendship.
In this short story every event in the story played off of the chase with the Black Stalion and the Red Mare. Because in a story the most exciting events bring up all the problems and emotion. Like when the boy felt sad that he could on the chase. Or when they were camping out in the woods to catch the horses because they would destroy the crops.
When the boy donald in the story wants to tell his dad about the horses but hesiates, it reminds me of when you have the choice to go play or when your parents say they really need your help. That is what I think donald in the story was feeling. The Writer of the story does a very good job of expressing the boys feeling in writing.
